Obituary: Joan Paris Errea

Joan Paris Errea was born July 23, 1934 in Ely, Nevada to Arnaud Paris and Marie Jeanne Goyhenetche Paris. Joan, together with her 4 brothers, were raised in sheep camps and ranches in White Pine and Pershing Counties .

She and her two younger brothers attended school in Winnemucca after the private teacher at the ranch passed away. Joan graduated from Humboldt County High School in 1952. In 1955, she met and married Louis Errea from Baigorry, France.

Joan was a storyteller, poet and the author of several books. She was best known for her published books “A Man Called Aita” and “My Mama Marie.”

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Arnaud and Mike and her husband Louis.

She is survived by her son Mike, daughter Lianne Iroz, son-in-law John Iroz and beloved grandson, Martin Iroz, brothers John and Pete Paris, sister Josephine Irigoyen, brother in law, Meliton Irigoyen, sisters-in-law Yvonne Paris, Alice Norcutt, Velma Errea and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Saint Paul’s Catholic Church CCD Program, 350 Melarkey Street, Winnemucca, NV 89445.

Funeral services will be held on saturday December 3, 2016 at 10:30 am at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church Winnemucca, NV.
