There is no rest for the weary, as the winter sports season has started for Lowry.

Despite it being the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be action this weekend.

The Lowry girls basketball team will hold an alumni scrimmage on Saturday at 10 a.m.. The Lady Bucks, who will be looking for their fourth consecutive state tournament appearance gets the regular season started on Tuesday against Pershing County in Winnemucca at 5:30 p.m.

The Lady Bucks travel to Reno and Sparks for the High Sierra Classic from Dec. 1-3. Lowry opens tournament play with Spanish Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lowry will have three Northern 3A contests in December, and all will be on the road.

The Lady Bucks will play in a tournament the day after Christmas and take on Hug and Pittsburg, Calif., on Dec. 26.

The Lowry boys are in Sparks today (Saturday) for a scrimmage against Spanish Springs. The Buckaroos open the regular season on Wednesday at Reno at 7 p.m. Lowry will stay in Reno for the Wild West Shootout at Bishop Manogue High School from Dec. 1-3. Lowry takes on host Bishop Manogue on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

California schools Folsom, Servite, Jesuit and St. Mary’s are in the eight-team tourney, along with Douglas and Spanish Springs.

Lowry also plays three league games on the road in December and makes its home debut on Tuesday, Dec. 20, against Reed at 6 p.m. The Buckaroos are in action during the Christmas break with a trip to Las Vegas from Dec. 27-29 for the Tri-State Holiday Classic hosted by Desert Oasis High School.

Lowry is scheduled to play Kingman, Desert Oasis and Spring Mountain. Lowry will also play two additional games in the tournament.

The Northern 3A Regional Championship will be in Winnemucca this year.

The Lowry wrestling team will open its season on Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3 in Fallon. The Buckaroos will be at home for the Cody Louk Invitational on Friday, Dec. 19, and Saturday, Dec. 10.

The Buckaroos will travel to Lovelock, Battle Mountain, Reno, Idaho, Spring Creek and Fernley this season.

The Northern 3A league duals are set for South Tahoe and the regional championship is in Elko.

The NIAA State Championships will be at Spanish Springs High School on Feb. 10-11.
