The Battle Mountain High School fall sports teams were rewarded well for their play as the postseason awards are out. The all-league and all-state teams are chosen by the league's coaches.
Sergio Diaz was named to the honorable mention team in Northern 3A (B Division).
Four girls from the volleyball team collected honors as well. Sondra Torgerson was named the Northern 2A Coach of the Year. She led the Lady Longhorns to a fourth-place finish.
Yulisa Vazquez was a first-team, all-league choice and was also named to the all-state second team.
McKenna Jones was a second-team selection, Riane Schroeder and Liscet Diaz were named to the honorable mention squad.
The BMHS football team brought in a number of awards, with Arturo Serrano claiming the Defensive Player of the Year award. The senior was also a first-team running back.
Joining him on the first team was Christian Figueroa (offensive line), Mason Fuller (linebacker) and Cesar Tovar (defensive line).
DeAndre Powell was selected to the second team as a defensive back and was joined by Bobby Kester (wide receiver), Diego Saenz (return specialist) and Zach Heese (offensive line).
Erik Martinez was a second-team linebacker and honorable mention on the offensive line.
Miles Piramide (wide receiver), Payton Ayers (defensive line) and Mason Chopp (offensive line) were named to the honorable mention team.
