The Lowry High School volleyball team was rewarded for its fourth-place finish in the Northern 3A, with three girls named to the respective all-league teams.
The Lady Bucks finished the year 13-18 overall and 9-7 in the Northern 3A. Lowry reached the semifinals of the regional tournament but was knocked off by eventual state champion Truckee in four sets.
Truckee’s Maia Dvoracek was named the Player of the Year for the second season in a row. She recently signed a letter of intent to play at Cal Poly.
Dayton’s Monica Halverson and Churchill County’s Patty Daum shared the Coach of the Year honors.
Truckee had two players named to the first team, including Madison Bromley and Sara Grahn-Nilsson. They were joined by Dayton’s Brianda Diaz and Makenna Olsen, South Tahoe’s Zoe Mosedale and Ashley Bricker and Churchill County’s Hailey Paladini and Whitney Skabelund.
Lowry senior Madison Montero was selected to the all-league, second team. Montero led the Lady Bucks in kills this fall.
The remainder of the second team included South Tahoe’s McKenna Brewer and Novel Moses, Dayton’s Hailey Wells and Kallie Strong, Elko’s Jordan Pollard, Fernley’s Raye Arroyo, Truckee’s Shelby Gendreau and Churchill County’s LeAnn Stands.
The Lady Bucks’ Kepa Bengochea and Hannah Hillyer were choices on the honorable mention squad. That group also included Sparks’ Violano Tau Fao and Caroline Aguilar, Churchill County’s Zoey Swisher, Elko’s Lexi Baum, Spring Creek’s Brenna Southern, Fernley’s Macie Kirk and Truckee’s Jordan Brown.
Dvoracek was named the Player of the Year for the state as well.
Players on the first team from northern Nevada were, Diaz, Skabeklund and Bromley.
The second team was made up Paladini, Bricker, Grahn-Nilsson, Mosedale and Olsen.
