James W. Hume Jr. was born in Long Beach, California on January 22nd, 1956 to his parents James W. Hume Sr and MaryAnn (Crowshaw). Less than a year later James was followed by his sister Cynthia O’Dette. James grew up in California and Northern Nevada as a child and young adult. James fondly remembered living with his grandmother and mother in Incline Village and Carson City as a youth. In December 1975 James joined the Army where he spent 9 years of his life. He was very proud of his service and he spent a large portion of that in Germany. After the Army James went to school while working and raising his family. He worked in many different industries over the years including gaming, satellite install, TV repair, newspaper delivery, and managing the Winnemucca airbase during fire season. One of Jame’s primary loves was riding motorcycles and he rode a HD Softail Classic Heritage the last few years of his life. He was also very intelligent and could read a manual to learn to operate or fix just about anything. James liked building things and his last few projects including building sluice boxes, drones, and solar power systems. James was preceded in death by his father James Whit Hume Sr. and his sister Cynthia O’Dette Aigner. James is survived by his mother MaryAnn Dickens, his wife Annette McFarland, his seven children James Kevin Hume, Jessica Ryan, Shawna Musgrove, Cassie Van Tassel, Cody Hume, Chrissie Hume, Cullen Hume, and ten grand children. Memorial Service for James will be held in Rye Patch, Nevada at the Humboldt River Estates Community Building on November 26th at 1 p.m.
