Grad in the News: Leanna Schaaf named to BJU Lyric Choir

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Leanna Schaaf of Winnemucca successfully auditioned into the 2016 University Lyric Choir at Bob Jones University.

Schaaf is a Freshman majoring in Christian Ministries.

The University Lyric Choir, an all-women ensemble, is one of Bob Jones University’s top five choral organization. At the end of the academic year, singers audition for the Lyric Choir, which is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students.

“I’m excited for this year’s Lyric Choir,” says Dr. Eliezer Yanson, associate professor of music at BJU. “At 54 members, this year’s group is the largest we’ve had in recent years. It’s always a joy to direct them and I look forward to helping develop the musical abilities God has given to each singer for His glory.”

The Lyric Choir will host a concert Dec. 7 featuring a selection of Christmas music and an additional concert in the spring. The group also sings the National Anthem during some home games at BJU.
