Fred Warden, age 77, of Golconda, Nevada passed away on May 13, 2016 in Reno, Nevada in the care of Hospice. Fred was born in Reno to Darrell and Mayme Holloway Warden. Frederick worked as a railroad engineer in Alaska. He also worked as a miner and was retired from Marigold Mines in Golconda.
Fred and his wife, Ann, lived in several places including Alaska and Oregon, finally settling in Golconda to be near the mine in which he worked. Growing up Fred enjoyed the poetry of Robert Service and the tales of the gold country in the Yukon. Fred and his wife bought a mine near Chicken, Alaska and worked it panning and sluicing gold the summer before they moved back to the lower 48.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ann. He is survived by his sister, Mari Tank of Bend, Oregon.
At his request, no services will be held.
