Suicide intervention training offered

Suicide intervention training is coming to Winnemucca. The opportunity is still several months away, but there is room for only 30 people in the class, according to Alaine Kliewer-Nye, of the Frontier Community Action Agency. Anyone interested should sign up as soon as possible to reserve a space. The emphasis of the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) class is on suicide first aid. The workshop is two full days, eight hours each day. It will be held at the National Guard Armory on Aug. 23-24. The cost is $60 The training is offered through a partnership between the Nevada Coalition for Suicide Prevention and the State of Nevada’s Office of Suicide Prevention.

Anyone interested in taking the class can get a registration form from the Frontier Community Action Agency.
