Members of the Battle Mountain High School Rodeo Club made the short trip last weekend to Winnemucca for the Humboldt County High School Rodeo. Going into the Winnemucca rodeo, Dally Goemmer and Riata Goemmer were first and second in the all around standings by a large margin. Riata Goemmer is a rookie on the Nevada High School Rodeo Association this season. Dally Goemmer currently leads the girls cutting standings. Kaylee Filippini is currently 18th.
The regular season concludes in Wells on May 14-15. The junior high/high school state finals will take place May 25-30 at the Churchill County Fairgrounds in Fallon. The top four finishers in each event after the state finals qualifies for the National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette, Wyo., from July 17-23. Those that fifth through 15th after the state finals compete in the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca from June 27-July 3.
