Coming off a narrow, five-shot victory over White Pine at the Ruby View Golf Course in Elko the prior week, the Battle Mountain High School team enjoyed another strong performance last Saturday, taking second at the tournament in West Wendover.
The fact that the local course is closed for renovation does not seem to be impeding the team. Nor is it seemingly bothered by the loss of so many seniors from last year’s squad.
Once more, Alan Rangel led the team, shooting a 90 for fourth place.
Austin Wallock shot a 99, which was good for ninth.
Other scores included Noah Villanueva, who shot a 109; Alex Lopez, who shot a 113; Brody Young, who shot a 114; and, Brandon Stallard shot 136.
Coach Roger Walloch observed that it was “nice to play better, but we still have a long ways to go if we want to compete at zone.”
