WINNEMUCCA — The Humboldt Volunteer Hospice will say goodbye to one director while welcoming another one this Wednesday — and the entire community is invited to join in.
Sherry Smith, who has served as the Executive Director of the local nonprofit since September 2010, has taken a position in Elko as the director of the FISH (Friends in Service Helping) organization.
Hospice will host a farewell party for her from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at the Frugal Flamingo Thrift Store, located at 681 W. Sixth Street (the former Napa building).
Community members are invited to enjoy light refreshments while taking the chance to bid farewell to Smith and welcome Theresa Diaz, who will now lead the organization as Executive Director.
The Humboldt Volunteer Hospice honors and supports individuals in the Humboldt County community who are suffering from a chronic, debilitating or terminal illness. All hospice care is provided at no cost to patients. Families do not need a doctor’s referral in order to access hospice services.
For more information on the Humboldt Volunteer Hospice, please contact HVH Executive Director Theresa Diaz at (775) 625-4263.
The Frugal Flamingo Thrift Store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Donations are gladly accepted during regular business hours.
