Obituary: Cindy Kay Grady

Cindy Kay Grady, 57, of Winnemucca passed away on February 25, 2016, at her home. The second child of Sharles J and Charles Francis Grady she was born on May 27, 1958 in Long Beach, CA.

The family moved to Humboldt County when Cindy was 4 years old. They made their home on Sonoma Ranch and later on a farm in Dutch Flat. In 1965 her father Chuck licensed the family business Grade A Plumbing Heating & Air Conditioning. They were a happy family and everybody worked.

Cindy attended Humboldt County schools K thru 12. In 1972 the family moved into Winnemucca while she was attending Junior High where she excelled in athletics. She was involved in countless school activities including being a cheerleader and a nine year member of 4-H livestock. She was also an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

In 1974 her mother Sharles (Snorky) Grady passed away. The family was devastated but her father was determined that all four kids would finish school; his family would endure and they did just that.

In High School Cindy was a Buckarett and Head JV Cheerleader. She graduated from Lowery High in 1976 and went on to Reno Beauty College. She eventually gave it up and returned home to work for her dad fabricating and installing heating ducts in many of the homes and buildings built in Winnemucca and Humboldt County since 1980. She was a master of her trade and worked with nearly every local building contractor over a 33 year career.

In 1985 Cindy met Thomas G Allman of Wausau, WI. The couple separated but in 1986 Cindy was blessed with her beautiful daughter, Kalli Cay Grady. In 1992 Cindy and Randy Sweeney welcomed a son, Jarrett Wayne Sweeney, making her family complete. In May 1996 at three and a half years old her little boy passed away leaving her heart forever broken.

Cindy was a kind, loving and caring person; her children loved her dearly as does her family, then and now. She had many old friends and she loved them all, she loved taking care of people many of which in the last part of her life ”gave back” and helped to look after her. We, her family, are eternally grateful and we “thank you” all, she was blessed to have so many friends. May she know how much she is truly and forever loved and we will be missed by all.

Cindy was preceded in death by her son, Garrett Wayne Sweeney; her parents Sharles Joyce (Maker) and Charles Francis Grady and her beloved step mother Audrey Wells Grady; sister in law Geraldine Marie (Castillo) Grady; grandparents Charles Leonard and Dorothy Madilynne (Baker) Maher, and Charles Wilson and Thelma Lucille (Aye) Grady.

Cindy is survived by her loving, loyal and devoted daughter Kalli Cay Grady (Chase) and her precious granddaughter MyKenzie Rose Grady-Day (the people that will miss her the most). A sister Jodi Lee Grady and brothers Timothy Charles (Natalie) Grady and Kelly Bruce Grady, niece Michea Sharles Grady (Kelly) and nephews Brandon Scott Grady (Amy) and Tyler Chase Schoening, great niece Dakota Rose Grady and great nephew Jaydin Timothy St Clare. The Grady family is from Winnemucca. She is also survived by her step brothers Tony (Lynn) Wells, Steve (Laura) Wells, David (Hiedi) Wells and Chris (Kristine) Wells all from Orange County, CA. She had numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

Services for Cindy will be held on Saturday April 2, 2016 with a graveside service beginning at 1:00 pm at the Winnemucca Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at the home of her nephew Tyler Schoening at 5040 Jacobson Dr. Winnemucca, NV.
