Battle Mountain High School senior Cooper Burkhart has signed a national letter of intent to play college football for NAIA member Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kan.
At 6 feet, 3 inches tall and 265 pounds, Burkhart was a force on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Battle Mountain High School football team. He will be playing on the offensive line in college.
Bethany College is a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference and the Swedes went 3-8 last year. Their conference includes Bethel College, Ottawa University, University of St. Mary, Sterling College, Southwestern College, Kansas Wesleyan, Friends University, Tabor College and McPherson College.
“Cooper is an incredibly hard worker and is really just starting to scratch the surface of his athletic ability,” said BMHS football coach Mitch Domagala. “He is going to make a great addition to the Swedes line.”
