BMHS’ Oakes signs with Thunderwolves to wrestle

Battle Mountain High School senior Jeff Oakes, has signed a national letter of intent to wrestle for Colorado State University Pueblo next season.

Oakes, who has won the past three Nevada Division III state championships as well as claiming All-American honors with his championship win at this year’s Reno Tournament of Champions is projected to wrestle at 184 pounds for the NCAA Division II Thunderwolves.

Colorado State University Pueblo recently finished seventh at the NCAA Division II Super Region Four Championships out of seven teams.

Three members of the Thunderwolves roster will head to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Sioux Falls, S.D. from March 11-12.

“Jeff has worked hard from day one to become the wrestler he is,” said BMHS wrestling coach Mitch Domagala. “He thrives on competition and getting better. I’m excited to see how far he will go on the next level.”
