Obituary: Margaret Castillo Bonotaux

Margaret Castillo Bonotaux (88) was born on October 13, 1927 and passed away from complications of pneumonia on June 21, 2016. 

She was the eldest child of Nicholas Castillo and Rosie Winap Westerbeek. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Raymond Charles Rodriguez, a Vietnam War veteran; her siblings Kenneth Castillo (Clara) of Schurz and Antonia Welch (Fred) of Lovelock, and her granddaughters Fairann, Fleurisa, and Felicity. 

Margaret is survived by her sister Teresa Brinkerhoff (Gene) and her brother Nicolas Castillo , Jr.(Nancy) both of Lovelock. Margaret’s surviving children include Anita Fisk (Frank) of Lovelock, Debra Schenck (Clay) of Sun Valley, and Mark Rodrigues (Judy) of Roseville, California.

Margaret was an intense individual who lived life to its fullest.  She participated in numerous school activities for her children and volunteered in a variety of community organizations including the Roman Catholic Church and the Reno Police Department.  Margaret love to dance and to travel. She enjoyed many hobbies including oil painting, ceramics, macramé, photography, and coin/stamp collecting.  She was a great cook, specializing in Mexican cuisine and cookies. 

Margaret graduated from Carlin High School and later, from Truckee Meadows Community College in 11979.  She earned a Certified Nursing Assistant diploma and spent the remainder of her working years in the field of nursing. 

Her family legacy includes 4 children, 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, Sadie Mae who was born in June.

Friends and family are invited to donate to the American Breast Cancer Society in honor of Margaret who was a cancer survivor. 

A memorial/wake is planned for the early afternoon on July 30 at the Frank and Anita Fisk residence on East Broadway Avenue in Lovelock.  All who knew Margaret are invited to stop by to visit with family and share memories.
