Coy Jay Hawkins, age 77, passed away at home in Winnemucca NV after a long illness.
Coy was born in Santa Cruz California in 1938 to parents Winnie and Richard Hawkins now deceased.
Coy was proud to serve his country with the US Marine Corps. He was a boilermaker by trade and a long standing member of the boilermakers Union Local 549.
After spending a lifetime of moving around the country and booming out to jobs, he came to Winnemucca NV in 1982 and decided this little town was where he wanted to put down roots.
Coy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Nona Hawkins, sons Coy Hawkins Jr, Todd Hawkins and daughter Shelly McKenzie. Also extended family including step children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Coy will be greatly missed by family and friends.
A viewing will be held at Sonoma Funeral Home in Winnemucca, NV, on Tuesday June 28, 2016 from 10:00 to 12:00 with a graveside service to follow at Winnemucca cemetery.
