Catherine (Katy) Elizabeth McKibben, Born June 9, 1936 –Died on April 15, 2016.
Katy was born in Lovelock Nevada to John and Caroline Aufdermaur; she was the fifth of ten children. She grew up on the family dairy farm and spent a lot of her childhood riding her horse Cyclone on the Nevada high desert.
Upon her graduation from high school, she moved to Reno and became a banking administrator for First National Bank. While living in Reno, she met the love of her life, Herb McKibben. They were married on April 9, 1960 and moved to California.
Katy learned how to rope and competed with her husband in many jackpots and rodeos.
In 1974, they relocated with their family to Paradise, California. In 1981, Katy became a school bus driver with the Paradise School District and retired 19 years later.
She was always active and loved the outdoors, especially anything that involved horses.
Katy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Caroline Rodrigues, Josie Graham, and brothers Daniel and Robert Aufdermaur.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Herb McKibben, three children, Everett McKibben, Brian McKibben and Cheryl Braswell; three grandchildren, Leigh McKibben, Jennifer Braswell and Ryan McKibben; sisters Annie Raber, Jane McKibben, and Virginia Rose; brothers John and Carl Aufdermaur, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held Friday April 29, 2016 at 9:45 am, St Thomas Moore Church, Paradise, CA.
She will be entered into rest on June 18th, 10:00 am, at a family service at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Lovelock, NV.
