National Night Out set for August 2

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, neighborhoods throughout Humboldt County and the City of Winnemucca are invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 34th annual National Night Out crime prevention, drug prevention, community safety event. National Night Out is sponsored by National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

National Night out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts and safety; (3) Strengthen community spirit and first responders partnerships.

Local first responders want to invite you to the Humboldt County Detention / Dispatch facility located at 801 Fairgrounds road, on August 2, 2016 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM hours. There will be tours of the detention and dispatch centers, safety booths, drug awareness booths, car seat installation demonstrations and a bounce house. In addition, there will be displays from the City and Rural Fire Departments, Humboldt General Hospital Emergency Medical Services, Winnemucca Police Department, and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.

Also attending this year’s event are Winnemucca Domestic Violence Services, the Bureau of Land Management, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Humboldt County Juvenile Detention Center, Specialty Courts, Frontier Community Coalition and the Nevada Department of Public Safety, including Highway Patrol, Investigations Division and Parole and Probation.

Numerous local businesses are also supporting this event with their gracious donations of food and supplies.

There will be food and drinks, hand-outs, prizes for the kids and a lot of important information.
