Battle Mountain cowgirl Dally Goemmer used three solid performances in the reined cow horse competition to capture the title at the Silver State International Rodeo in Winnemucca.

She finished in fourth place in the first go-around with 273.50 and was fourth again in the second go-around at 277 points. Goemmer saved her best for last, placing second in the short go-around with a 284 points — giving Goemmer first place in the average at 834.5 points.

Goemmer also took part in barrel racing during the week-long event and recorded times of 23.810 and 23.771 in each of her performances. Those times were not quick enough to move her into the short go-around.

Goemmer continued to stay busy at the SSIR, with two performances in goat tying. She had times of 14.33 and 10.935, which was 21st in the second go-around.

In breakaway roping, Goemmer shined in the first go-around to place 13th with a time of 3.11. She stopped the clock at 12.245 in the second go-around.

Riata Goemmer took part in the pole bending at the SSIR and recorded times of 29.633 and 21.876. Her time in the second go-around was good enough for 28th place.

She also took part in goat tying and had a time of 10.92 in the first go-around to place 24th. Goemmer did not record a time in the second go-around.

The two cowgirls will move on to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette, Wyo., from July 17-23.

Dally Goemmer will take part in pole bending and girls cutting. Riata Goemmer is competing in barrel racing, girls cutting and reined cow horse.

In addition. Several Humboldt County Rodeo Club members turned in strong performances at the Silver State International Rodeo that concluded on Saturday, July 2, in Winnemucca.

Behind a strong showing in pole bending, Kerstin Christiansen finished eighth in the girls all-around standings with 24 points. She was 33rd in the first go-around of pole bending with a time of 22.749 seconds.

However, she improved by nearly two seconds in the second go-around and was third with a time of 20.928. Her combined time of 43.677 got her into the 15th and final transfer spot for the short go-around. Christiansen continued her momentum, placing fourth in the short go at 21.167 to finish sixth overall in the event.

She also competed in reined cow horse and placed 10th in each of the three go-arounds. Christiansen had scores of 222, 27 and 242.

Quint Bell turned in a second-place performance in the tie-down roping. He was ninth in the first go-around with a time of 12.885. Bell improved to fifth place in the second go-around at 11.535 and was fifth in the average at 24.42.

Bell saved his best for last in the short go-around with a time of 10.915 to finish fifth. His total time of 35.335 was good enough for second. Idaho’s Hazen Smith won the event at 33.84.

Trase Bell placed sixth in the steer wrestling with an average time of 21.92. He did not record a time in the first go-around, but battled back to place fifth in the second go-around at 12.71. Despite failing to record a time in the first go-around, Bell still moved onto the short go. In the short go-around, Bell was third in a time of 9.21.

Caleb Logan and Blaine Pinochi placed second in team roping with an average time of 34.79. The duo were seventh in the first go-around in a time of 13.11. They were second in the short go-around at 12.14 to be fifth in the average at 25.25. The twosome won the short go-around with a time of 9.54. The Utah duo of Paden Woolstenh and Chason Horton won with an average of 28.14.

Danyelle Draper was seventh in reined cow horse with a total of 789.5 points. She won the short-go around with a score of 285.5. Draper was fifth in the first go-around and ninth in the second go-around.

Utah’s Chase Horton was the boys all-around champion and Utah’s Paden Woolstenhulm was the reserve all-around cowboy. California’s Corley Raper was the all-around cowgirl and Utah’s Jaicee Bastain was the reserve all-around winner.

Utah claimed the team title with 830 points and Nevada was second at 404. Eight different states and Alberta Canada took part in the annual summer event.
