Obituary: Greg Dale Kingsford

Greg Kingsford died on Sunday July 3, 2016, at his home in Battle Mountain, Nevada.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at St John Bosco Catholic Church with Deacon Dennis Cahill officiating; reception immediately following at Battle Mountain Civic Center.

Greg was born on May 28, 1945 in North Bend, Oregon to Dewert and Zelma Kingsford. He was one of three children and attended school from kindergarten to high school graduation in Sutherland, Oregon.

On May 28, 1964 Greg married Rosa Linda Vera in Sutherland, Oregon. Their two oldest children, Noel and Tracy were born in nearby Roseburg, Oregon.

In 1966 the family moved to Coos Bay, Oregon where their third child, Lloyd was born. Greg worked for Weyerhaeuser Lumber until the timber operation closed down in 1987.

Greg, Rosa and Tracy then moved to Bakersfield, California where Greg drove truck for Las Plumas trucking company for five years. They then moved to Salem, Oregon and to Battle Mountain, Nevada in 1994 where Greg worked for Newmont Mining at the Midas Mine until retirement.

Greg enjoyed hunting, fishing – both fresh and salt water, crabbing and clam digging and all things outdoors. He also enjoyed shake splitting in his younger years, gardening, and home improvement projects.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years Rosa, and their sons Noel (wife Jennifer) of Terrebonne, Oregon, Tracy of Battle Mountain, and Lloyd (wife Kim) of Seattle, Washington, sister Anna Obieta of Battle Mountain and brother Dustin Kingsford of Roseburg, Oregon. Six grandsons, one great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

Greg was known for his stories and entertained everyone by telling them at all times. He will be sorely missed by his family and countless friends.
