Frances Kamilla Sequeira Howard, daughter of Elsie and Frank Sequeira, was born on May 9, 1943 in Lovelock, Nevada; and died January 31, 2016 in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 72. She is survived by her Brother Edmund Sequeira; her three sons, Leonard, Louis and Lawrence; Daughters in law; Patrice, Kelly and Shannon; and her six grandchildren Sequoia (Powell), Logan, Garrett, Sierra, Mallory and Hailee. She is further survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
After leaving Lovelock, Fran lived briefly in Boise, Idaho and Sandy, Utah before moving to Reno, Nevada for approximately 40 years, with her husband Louis B. Howard, Sr. whom she later divorced. After serving an LDS mission in the Jamaica Kingston Mission, Fran returned home and settled in Boise, Idaho.
Fran was an excellent cook and loved to bake. She loved to look for new recipes and watched countless hours of cooking shows, looking for new ideas or techniques. She was often found in the kitchen, preparing for family dinners and holiday goodies. One of her favorite memories was baking a holiday treat with each of her grandchildren.
If she wasn’t in the kitchen, you could find her in the garden, nurturing and pruning the fruits and vegetables that she loved to watch grow, and later enjoyed cooking. The gardener in Fran never went away, and she made the most of her small lot by gardening in the garden boxes installed in the backyard, while improving the overall appearance of the yard with her ever vigilant green thumb.
Although she endured health challenges, she enjoyed her retirement and loved being able to set her own schedule. Fran enjoyed several years in Boise, attending family functions, school plays, graduations etc., whenever possible. She loved to read and to learn; loved words, and could often be found working on crossword or word challenge puzzles. She said, “We should never stop learning and living life to the best of our ability.” Fran lived life to the best of her abilities and loved her family and friends to the end.
