Chuck was born and raised in La Mesa, Ca until the age of 12, moving to Ramona where his parents bought a ranch. He graduated from Ramona HS in 1953.
He married his wife of 54 years, Betty, in Ramona, CA in 1961. They moved to Winnemucca in 1992.
Chuck is survived by his wife Betty (Winnemucca, NV), son David (Ely, NV), daughter, Terria (Alpine, CA), brother in law, William (Winnemucca, NV), cousin Jack Kelly (Ocenside CA), nephew, John (TX), 3 grandsons, 1 granddaughter, and 1 great granddaughter. Chuck was preceded in death by his mother, Helen and father, Carl, of La Mesa, CA.
Chuck worked as a professional truck driver for over 30 years, with 3 million accident free miles. He was devoted to his family and loyal to his friends. Chuck’s friends would describe him as intelligent, humorous, loyal and trustworthy.
Chuck was instrumental in the organization of the Grass Valley/Pershing County Volunteer Fire Department, and in the development of the fire house. Along with Mick Richards, they were instrumental in securing a legal, non-grazing area in Pershing County.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
