BMHS boys beat Wolverines

Longhorns take on league-leading Lions on Friday

The Battle Mountain High School boys basketball team bounced back from its loss to Incline with a 66-55 win over West Wendover on Monday night. The game was played Monday in Wendover after getting postponed on Monday.

The Longhorns held a slim four-point after eight minutes of play, but took control in the second quarter on the strength of an 18-8 run that gave the Longhorns a 35-21 lead at halftime.

The win was big in terms of the playoff hunt for Battle Mountain. Incline and Battle Mountain are tied for third and fourth at 5-4, but the Highlanders swept the Longhorns and have the tie breaker. West Wendover is fifth at 4-5.

Yerington (7-0) and Pershing County (6-2) are first and second. Battle Mountain still plays both teams, starting at Yerington on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
