Farewell party for Treasurer and Commissioner

The Lander County Commissioners invite the public to enjoy a farewell party for the retiring Treasurer Grace Kemp formerly known as Grace Powrie and termed-out Commissioner Steven Stienmetz on Dec. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Civic Center.

Some county offices will be closing at 3 p.m. on Dec. 22 to attend the party of their long-time treasurer and commissioner.

The farewell party will begin at 3 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and an open bar. There will be a presentation at 5:30 p.m. and the party will be closing the doors at 6 p.m. Everyone is welcome to enjoy this party and bid their elected officials well.

Kemp, verbally announced she was retiring in Oct. She told the Bugle it was not an easy decision to make but in the end she feels good about her decision and looks forward to the future. She also said she has made many friends in her journey as treasurer. She served a total of 32 years in the Treasurer’s office, 24 years as the County Treasurer. Her last day in office will be Jan. 2.

Stienmetz will be termed out at then end of this year as a Lander County Commissioner after 12 years of service. He said he is proud of accomplishments he has seen while he has been a Commissioner. He will continue his job at NV Energy at the Valmy Power Plant before thinking of retiring, he said in an interview (which will be in the Dec. 28 BMB issue).
