Obituary: Danny Lee Johnson

Danny Lee Johnson 71, of Winnemucca NV passed away at home of Natural causes after a long illness on November 21, 2016.

Danny was born February 21, 1945 in Modesto, California to Donald and Sophie Weiss Johnson.

He married Linda Leyva on February 13, 1971. They lived in California for 16 years then moved to Yerington where he started working on a ranch. He started his mining career from Yerington to Tecopa, CA, to Pioche, NV, and ended up in Winnemucca where he and his wife lived and worked for 30 years. Danny worked in mining for 38 years and retired in 2006.

Danny was a friendly person who made friends easily and would talk to anybody whether they were a friend or not.

When he lived in Pioche he belonged to the Fire Department, Search and Rescue, and was a little league coach, he later became an EMT.

He enjoyed baseball, football, hunting, and fishing. He loved to watch his grandchildren and their friends play sports. He would sit at the ball park every day if he could.

Danny is survived by his wife Linda Lois Johnson, children Nash Joseph (Aimee) Johnson, and Tina Marie (Chris) Adams, grandchildren Adra Lynn Hammond, Tytin Lee Johnson, Aubrey Nicole Johnson, and Kyle Matthew Adams, and his sisters and brother Robert (Linda) Johnson, Donna Mae (Ray Hutton) Harrison, Paula Beckman, Edie (Larry) Ellis, and Jeannie (Jim) Schumann.

Danny is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Sophie Johnson, in-laws Ignacio and Juanita Leyva and Joseph and Sarah Johnson.

Services for Danny will be held on Saturday January 7, 2017 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Winnemucca NV at 515 Garrison ST.
