Humboldt County concludes fall rodeo season

The fall season for the Nevada High School Rodeo Association concluded its fall season in Las Vegas from Nov. 18-20, with a number of strong finishes from the Humboldt County Rodeo Club.

Quint Bell was first in steer wrestling on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a time of 5.84 seconds. He was second in the tie-down roping on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a time of 13.620 and Bell placed sixth in the second performance on Nov. 20 at 17.560.

Bell turned a sixth-place outing in the first performance of cutting with 61 points and improved to fourth in the second performance with 70 points.

Bell partnered up with his younger brother, Cade Bell to finish ninth in team roping on Nov. 19 with a time of 15.420. The duo were 11th on Nov. 20 at 20.620.

Cade Bell added a 10th-place finish in tie-down roping on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a time of 31.370.

Julianne Montero claimed the top spot in the goat tying on Sunday, Nov. 20, with a time of 7.64. She was seventh in barrel racing on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 16.563. Montero added two more top-10 finishes in breakaway roping. She was seventh in the first performance (13.830) and fifth in the second performance (4.26).

Chris Gleason won both performances of bull riding with scores of 42 and 49, respectively, and Dusty Robertson placed seventh in goat tying on Saturday, Nov. 19, with a time of 9.06.

Alyssa Nimmick was 10th in each performance of pole bending with times of 23.380 and 22.374. Bailey Reynolds finished eighth in breakaway roping on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 6.180, and Audrey Van Buren was 10th in breakaway roping on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 9.640.

In the junior high division, Kayla Curtis was sixth in barrel racing on Sunday, Nov. 20, in a time of 17.022.

Curtis placed fifth in the second performance of pole bending at 24.146 and she was 13th on Saturday, Nov. 19, at 28.494.

With the fall portion of the schedule over, Gleason leads the bull riding standings. The top four competitors in each event after the state finals in June advance to the National High School Finals Rodeo in Wyoming. Those who finish fifth through 15th qualify for the Silver Sate International Rodeo in Winnemucca.

Seth Duncan is second in bareback riding and Montero is fourth in barrel racing, breakaway roping and goat tying. Nimmick is 11th in pole bending, Quint Bell sits in second in steer wrestling, third in tie-down roping and fifth in cutting. Cade Bell is seventh in cutting, 17th in tie-down roping and the brothers are 12th in team roping.

Marie Curtis and partner Bailey Fullmer (Las Vegas) are 10yh in team roping and is 31st in breakaway. Bailey Reynolds is 19th in breakaway, Kenadee Miller 13th in team roping, 26th (Breakaway roping), Kerstin Christiansen sixth in reined cow horse and 24th in barrels and Robertson is 21st in goat tying and 20th in breakaway roping.

Audrey Van Buren is currently 25th in barrels, 32nd in breakaway and 22nd in team with Nimmick. Danyle Draper is 29th in breakaway, 23rd in goats and ninth in reined cow horse.

On the junior high side, Curtis is 11th in breakaway and poles and 12th in barrel racing and Lexi Garijo is 19th in pole bending. Amanda Draper sits in 15th in breakaway roping and is ninth with Garijo in team roping.

The spring season starts Feb 11-12 in Boulder City.
