Alan Bailey, resident of Reno and former resident of Winnemucca died August 12, 2016, at his home in Reno. He was born July 13, 1961, in Emporia, Kansas. Son of George Ralph Bailey and Janet Commeree Bailey, he is survived by sisters Marilyn Bailey (David Pratt) of Alameda, CA, and Theresa Bailey (Maryanne Brush) of Denver, CO and 4 nieces and 2 nephews plus 7 “greats”. He is predeceased by his parents, sisters Linda and Joan and brother Hugh.

Alan worked internationally as a geothermal engineer, designing geothermal wells to provide alternative energy sources in such varied places as Turkey, Chile, Djibouti, Mexico and throughout the western US and Hawaii. He developed a reputation as the “go-to” guy for geothermal project design and was also proud of his reputation as “the Red Adair of blown geothermal wells”. A musician, a storyteller, a good friend and a kind man, he will be missed by those who knew him and loved him throughout the world. No services are scheduled at this time.
