Lowry JV boys soccer ties twice in Spring Creek

Buckaroos fall to Battle Mountain

The Lowry High School junior varsity boys soccer team began its season last weekend at the Spring Creek Jamboree. The Buckaroos tied two games and lost one time over the two days.

Lowry tied White Pine 2-2 in the first game of the season last Friday. Each team scored one goal apiece in each half. Lalo Aguilar and Austin Lloyd scored goals for Lowry. Anthony Herrera and Octavio Ruiz had one assist each. Chris Schultz played in goal for the Buckaroos.

Later on Friday afternoon, Lowry took on Battle Mountain and lost 7-2. The Longhorns led 2-1 at halftime, but scored five goals in the second half to take control of the match.

Lloyd scored both goals for the Buckaroos, while Herrera added an assist.

In its only game on Saturday, Lowry overcame a 2-1 deficit at halftime to tie the Spring Creek JV 4-4. Lloyd continued his scoring run with two more goals to lead the Buckaroos. Anthony Cuevas and Aguilar had one goal apiece.

Lowry is off this weekend and opens Northern 3A play on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at South Tahoe at 3 p.m.
