William Rodger Smith (Bill)

Bill went to heaven on August 5th, 2016.

He was born May 3rd, 1944 to Clyde Roscoe and Lavina Goldie Smith.

He is proceeded in death by the love of his life Mary Jeanette Smith (Hill) his parents, his siblings Harvey, Stanley, Opal, Vina, and a brother who died at birth and also two grandchildren Keri Price and Tyson Blazing.

He was born in Junction City, Kansas. He was known as Rodger to friends and family. He was Cherokee Indian and very proud of his heritage. His great grandma on his father’s side was full blooded and only spoke fluent Cherokee.

In the 1950s Grandpa and Grandma moved their tribe to Idaho. Where he then meet the love of his life Mary.

They are survived by their four daughters, Luckie Smith of Rock Springs, WY, Penny and her husband Larry Beane of Battle Mountain NV, Peggy Smith-Mullen of Battle Mountain NV and son in law Jim Mullen of WY, Candy and Stacy Bogart of Medford OR. 

He was drafted into the Vietnam War in the late 60’s. While he was serving he was known as Nevada Smith. Later through the years he then became Bill.

He loved many different things such as wood working, fishing, camping, hunting, having fun with family and friends telling stories.

He has 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews family and friends.

Bill was and is very loved and will be missed very much (R.I.P) Daddy (old man) and give mamma our love and we will all be together again.

Service will be held on August 27th, 2016 at 2PM at the Battle Mountain Cemetery..

Following we will be gathering at the Beane’s house for a good family BBQ..
