WINNEMUCCA, Nev.—If you’ve got a hat, then you’ve got an official invitation to participate in the first annual “Decorated Hat Contest.”
Participants are invited to use any items they wish to decorate their hat; hats centered on this year’s fair theme—“Red, White and Blue: This Fair’s for You”—are appreciated.
“This is a fun, anything-goes kind of contest,” said Tri-County Fair Chairman Darrel Field of the competition. “We are purposely not giving very much direction because we want to see what kind of creative, crazy and amazing things people come up with.”

Entries will be accepted at the Fair Booth in the Winnemucca Event Center anytime from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, September 2, or 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, September 3. Prizes will be awarded for Youth, Adults and Senior Citizens.
