The Battle Mountain High School boys golf team traveled to Jackpot on Friday and played in less than ideal conditions. The Longhorns finished with a team total of 543.
Alan Rangel paced the Longhorns with a round of 84 to finish third overall. Noah Villanueva was next in line at 106 and Austin Wallock and Brody Young shot 111 and 112, respectively. Anthony Lewis carded a 130 and Ryan Winrod shot 133.
“We didn’t play well in the cold and the wind,” said BMHS coach Roger Wallock. “Alan had a great day and is showing he is one of the best golfers in our league right now. We need to have a solid week of practice because we took a step backwards this week.”
Battle Mountain is back on the course on Thursday in Ely at White Pine Golf Course. The regional and state tournaments are set for mid-May.
