Susanna (Roberts) Edgar, “Grandma Sue”, passed away on April 15, 2016 at the age of 82. Sue was born on July 11, 1933 in Delta, Utah to Doyle and Velma Roberts. She had three siblings whom she loved dearly: Betty (Louie) Bidart, Bill (Coxie) Roberts, and Neil Roberts.
Sue spent the majority of her life in Battle Mountain. She graduated from Battle Mountain High School in 1951. She loved this town and the people in it.
Sue married the love of her life, Galen Edgar, on June 2, 1951, in Winnemucca, Nevada. They were married for 45 years until Galen’s death in 1996. Together they raised their family: Jenny (Mike) Canty, Shane (Angel) Edgar, Todd (Alicia) Price, Tracy (Lori) Price, Troy (Jodi) Price, Teri Bowman.
Anyone who knew Sue, knew her as “Grandma Sue”. Grandma had a deep love for people of all ages; She never met a stranger. If you happened to visit, she had food, coffee, and a conversation ready.
Sue loved to cook and usually found ways to alter recipes to make them better. She worked for years feeding people around town- first with “Grub on the Run” and later at “The Hideaway”. She and her partner, Maggie, worked long hours to build a successful business until her retirement in 2015.
Grandma Sue also loved to read and was seldom found without a book in her hand. She enjoyed her flowers and anxiously awaited spring so she could plant and work in her yard.
Sue is survived by her children, 19 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Galen, parents Doyle and Velma, sister Betty, brothers Bill and Neil, and grandson Turner Price.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Battle Mountain Museum, P.O. Box 663, Battle Mountain. Services will be held at the Civic Center on April 24, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at the Battle Mountain Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Civic Center.
