CARSON CITY — The Nevada State Treasurer’s Office announced Friday that the open enrollment period for the Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program has been extended one month, and now closes April 30, 2016.
The Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program locks in in-state tuition at today’s prices, meaning parents and students won’t have to pay more when tuition costs increase in the future.
“It’s no joke that the deadline for enrollment has been extended,” said Dan Schwartz, Nevada State Treasurer. “Our hope is that more Nevada families will have the opportunity to enroll in this incredible program.”
Don’t wait! The program will close to new 2016 enrollees on April 30, 2016. Program benefits may be used at any eligible school in the country – meaning in-state benefits can be used toward tuition costs at public or private colleges, universities or trade schools that are eligible to participate in federal student aid. A list of eligible schools can be found at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. The Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program works in conjunction with other 529 college savings plans or scholarships to which cover additional college expenses, including books, fees and housing.
Enrollment forms can be completed online at www.NVPrepaid.gov. Payment plans start as low as $38 per month for prepaid tuition at community college and $46 per month for one-year of university tuition. Newborns through 9th graders can be enrolled.
Programs offered by the State Treasurer’s Office include the Nevada Prepaid Tuition Program, SSGA Upromise 529 Plan, Putnam 529 for America, the Vanguard 529 College Savings Plan and the USAA 529 College Savings Plan.
