Obituary: Donnie R. Bell

Donnie R. Bell passed away on 3/30/16 at the Reno Regional VA Hospital after a long illness. He was born 12/01/41 in Burkburnette, TX. He was raised in TX and also went to school for awhile in Japan while his dad, Artie Bell was still in the Air Force.

Donnie was in the Community Living Center of the hospital or the CLC. It was a very warm, loving place for his skilled nursing care. He made a lot of friends among the veterans he was in contact with, also, among the staff.

He was given an Honors Escort after he passed. The American Flag was draped over his gurney and as he was wheeled down the hall, all of the veterans saluted him. It was a beautiful ceremony.

Donnie lived in Hawthorne, NV for many years with his first family. He worked at the Hawthorne Ammunition depot, as well as the fire department.

Donnie lived in Ely, NV in the early 90’s when he started working for the Dept. of Corrections. Also, after moving to Winnemucca, NV, he was employed with the Dept. of Corrections.

Donnie was in the Army during the early 60’s as a First Sergeant. He was also in the Nevada National Guard.

Donnie is survived by his wife Janet Bell; his children, Donnie Lynn Shrum, Charles R. Bell, Dodie M. Bell; his grandchildren, Jakob Bell, Jessie Bell, Emily Kay Shrum, Kristian Bell and Tylor Bell.

A potluck memorial is planned for April 9, Saturday, 11:00 O’Clock, at the Church of Christ in Battle Mountain, NV. Address is 477 Reese St., Battle Mountain, Nv 89820.
