Leave the monument where it is

Editor,

Fire in the hole with just two days past Easter Sunday and I read that Louis Trout, the savior of our community, wants to remove the Ten Commandments Monument from the Courthouse lawn. I can’t even tell you the disdain I’m feeling towards Trout. He’s concerned about a lawsuit. Who’s going to bring a suit, Trout? Most folks probably didn’t even realize it was there.

I have always been so proud to live in a town where the kids at the Grammar School still say the Pledge of Allegiance every morning, and some classes sing the Star Spangled Banner, and where I can fire a 12-pound Howitzer at our football games, and many still believe that our nation was founded on Christian-Judeo principles. When I first moved to Winnemucca, some would tell me to set my clock back 40 years. That’s probably another thing I love about this town. Political correctness we do not need.

I hope the city leaders will leave the Ten Commandments Monument exactly where it is.
