Delfino Hernandez, a long time resident of Winnemucca, Nevada unexpectedly passed away at Renown of Reno on September 23, 2015. Delfino was born to Rafael and Margarita Hernandez in Silao Guanajato, Mexico on July 22, 1943 and lived there until he made his residency in the U.S. at the age of nine.
As a young man, Delfino found Nevada to be home for himself and his family and settled down in Winnemucca after living in other towns. Delfino attended Humboldt County High School and graduated in 1964. Soon after graduating he went to Salt Lake City, Utah to pursue his career in becoming a Barber. After completing Barber School, he came back home and followed his career in Reno and Winnemucca as a professional barber since 1965 until his passing.
Delfino had the heart, courage, and dedication to protect and serve his country bravely in the Nevada National Guard. He was also a dedicated servant of the Lord and belonged to St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
Besides making individuals look good every day, in Delfino’s down time he had a passion for fishing, hunting, traveling, and most important to him was spending time with his family.
Delfino Hernandez is survived by his son: Michael W. Hernandez (Maite), his grandchildren: Mateo M. Hernandez and Mia M. Hernandez, his brother: Louis Hernandez (Marjie), his sisters: Maria L. Castellanos (Uriel) and Herlinda Hernandez, as well as his nephews and nieces: Carlos Hernandez, Rafael Castellanos, and Angie Hernandez.
Delfino is preceded by his father and mother: Rafael and Margarita L. Hernandez.
Services will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church on Monday, September 28, 2015. Rosary will begin at 10:45am and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am.
