Obituary: James ‘Jimi’ John DiSimone

James “Jimi” John DiSimone was born in Pennsylvania on November 29th 1948 to Ghetto and Philomena DiSimone and passed away in Nevada on September 8th 2015 at the age of 66. Jim was a loving father and great friend to many.

He was a Vietnam Veteran and proud to serve in the Army for six years, after which he was honorably discharged when a bomb went off next to him, blowing shrapnel in his body and permanently damaging his eardrums.

He was a miner, above and underground, for 25 years and then went on to become an MSHA inspector for another 14 years. Jim was dedicated to the health and safety of all those in the mining community, as many of the miners in the west were his close friends.

When he wasn’t working, he was often found doing one of many outdoor activities such as deep sea fishing, hunting, and camping. Above all, he loved and adored his family and spent his final days getting to know his three beautiful granddaughters, who helped him bring the youthful bounce back to his step and mischievous gleam back to his eye.

Jim is survived by his daughter Amber DiSimone, son Andrew DiSimone, sister Marianne Gentile, wife Jodi Sutton, daughter in law Hillary DiSimone and three beautiful granddaughters, Ramielle, Brooklynn, and Laelah DiSimone. He is also survived by countless loving and caring friends who will always remember him as their “Jimi.” Dad, we will forever miss you and love you “More Than You Will Ever Know.”

If you would like to make a donation in Jimi’s name, his family would love for you to donate to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation at www.rmef.org. Condolences can be sent to: The DiSimone Family, 1444-1800 E. St, Battle Mountain, NV 89820.
