Currently on loan from the University of Nevada Reno Center for Basque Studies, the Northeastern Nevada Museum has created a display of items that originally belonged to Dominique Laxalt. Laxalt's items were used at his sheep camp near Marlette Lake, Nev. The collection includes many historic items such as a tent, pack saddle, many tools, bota bags, and more. Visit the Northeastern Nevada Museum in Elko today to experience the atmosphere of a lonely Nevada sheep camp. The Laxalt Legacy of sheepherding is chronicled on the Nevadabasque.com website in a story by Clare O'Toole, "Dominique Laxalt's Basque Cabin at Smoke Creek Canyon Ranch." Read it here. Hours and information about the Northeastern Nevada Museum can be found here.
