The Lowry High School freshmen football team dropped its season-opener at home to Fernley 13-0 this past Thursday night. The Vaqueros ran the opening kick back for a touchdown and added another score in the first quarter to account for all the points. Lowry had success moving the ball, but costly turnovers stopped drives. The Buckaroos travel to Truckee next Thursday for a 5 p.m. kickoff with the Wolverines.
