The Winnemucca Junior High School seventh and eighth-grade girls basketball teams are two weeks into their season.
The Warriors opened play on Saturday, Aug. 29, at a tournament in Fernley and played Carson and Eagle Valley on Thursday in Carson City.
Winnemucca will be at home for the first time on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 9 a.m. against Carson. The Warriors will remain on their home floor to face Fallon on Tuesday, Sept. 15, against Fallon at 3:30 p.m.
Tri-County play begins on Saturday, Sept. 19, at McDermitt Combined School at 9 a.m. Tri-County action moves to Lovelock on Saturday, Sept. 26, in McDermitt, Winnemucca on Saturday, Oct. 4 and the Tri-County Championship will be Saturday, Oct. 10, at 9 a.m. in Lovelock.
Winnemucca will also have a road game at Fallon on Thursday, Oct. 1. at 3 p.m.
The eighth-grade team is coached by Daralee Millikan and includes Isabel Acevedo, Dacotah Anelli, Carly Capellen, Kelcey Cooper, Savannah Dalley, Ariana Galindo, Alyssa Gomez, Keira Hilbish, Makayla Leveille, Sierra Maestrejuan, Victoria Navarro, Bailey Raabe, Julia Rivera, Kelsey Smith and Destiny Starkey.
The seventh-grade squad is coached by Grant Beatty and includes Adia Bengochea, Bailee Brinkerhoff, Macy DeLong, Reece Kalkoskie, Tea Novi, Julie Ruiz, Mackenzie Begay, Delanie Thompson, Gracie Garrett, Shanae Smith, Kayla Lininger and Lilly Landt on the ‘A’ team.
The ‘B’ group is comprised of Kayleen Urain, Alexus Gomez, Jordan Hornbarger, Shantel Bernal. Lauren Fentress, Clarissa Olsen, Lesley Martinez and Madeline Amos.
The dance team and cheer teams have also been announced.
The cheer squad includes Camille Roberts, Kylie Ochoa, Maritza Mendoza, Hailey Yess, Rylee Clement, Isabelle Carillo, Kaitlin Kiefer and Lindsey Myers.
The dance team is comprised of Trinity Bachman, Kylie Hunewill, Vivian Beltran, Amanda Franklin, Kaitlyn Duncan, Julianna Gonzalez, Riley Reynolds, Lillian Lopez, Cristina Rodriguez, Eva Andradottir, Addison McDonald, Montana Roark, Erin Reeves, Kylee Jensen, Brooke Howard and Anjolie Karrer.
