It seems every time the Lowry High School girls soccer team plays Churchill County, the match is a nail biter and the outcome is decided in the final minutes.
That was no different this past Saturday afternoon in Winnemucca, as the Lady Bucks donned black and pink jersey’s to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Greenwave grabbed the early advantage in the first half, scoring twice in the first 40 minutes. The Lady Bucks appeared to have cut the deficit in half in the first half, but had a goal disallowed.
After being shut out in the first 40 minutes, Lowry rallied with two goals in the second half.
The first goal came on a shot by Brittany Partee off an assist by Hailey Hinkle. Sophomore Bailey Sapien provided the tying goal, with the assist going to McKenna Jones.
With the tie, Lowry is 5-3-2 in Division I-A North play and 7-4-2 overall. Churchill County is also 5-3-2 in league play. If the regional playoffs were to begin now, the two teams would play each other in the opening round.
