When she arrived in Winnemucca to become General Manager of Winnemucca Publishing, Holly Rudy-James brought with her a great idea — the “senior angel tree.” The Giving Tree for Seniors has been part of The Humboldt Sun’s list of community projects for the past 13 years, and it’s been a good run. Through the generosity of the public, the assistance of Bealls and lots of work by our staff, many hundreds of seniors around the county have had a brighter Christmas.
Even the greatest of parties have to come to an end, and it is with regret that we now announce that our Giving Tree for Seniors will not take place in 2016.
However, we’d dearly love to give this project to another business, civic group or club in the area. We will offer assistance this year — details of our project infrastructure, our graphic arts files for posters and angels, and we’ll assist with advertising through The Humboldt Sun and News4Nevada.com.
