Lady Longhorns come short against Mustangs in girls soccer

The Battle Mountain High School girls soccer team played host to rival Pershing County last Friday, with the Lady Mustangs coming out on top 4-0.

Pershing County took a 1-0 lead into halftime on a goal from Maddy Gonzalez. Gonzalez took a pass from Alexis Lusby and connected on her shot on the left side out of reach of the goalie.

In the second half Pershing County’s Anna Vidales made a pass through the Battle Mountain defense, setting up Lupe Paredes for the second score of the day.

Two minutes later, Gonzalez took the ball from a defender and dribbled towards the goal and scored her second goal of the day.

The last goal of the game was scored Gonzalez, as she took a goal kick from Battle Mountain and placed the ball over the goalies head for her third goal of the game.

Battle Mountain hosts North Tahoe Thursday at 2 p.m. and Incline on Saturday at 11 a.m.
