Battle Mountain duo sits atop high school rodeo standings after completion of fall season

The Battle Mountain duo of Dally Goemmer and Riata Goemmer are first and second in the all-around cowgirl standings after the completion of the fall season in the Nevada High School Rodeo Association schedule.

Dally Goemmer leads with 349.50 points, while Riata Goemmer, a rookie on the circuit has 287 points. Lacey Steele from Alamo (259) and Payton Feyder (Elko) and Bailey Fullmer (Las Vegas) round out the top five. Battle Mountain’s Kaylee Filippini is 14th in the girls all-round standings. She is also a rookie on the circuit.

In the final rodeo of the fall in Las Vegas on Nov. 14-15, Dally Goemmer had an excellent performance on both days, to widen her lead in the standings.

She won the girls cutting with 71 points on Nov. 14, and was third in reined horse cow with 142 points. In addition, she also posted a third-place finish in goat tying with a time of 8.63 seconds. She finished eighth in barrel racing with a time of 17.191, 11th in breakaway roping at 6.54 and 20th in pole bending in a time of 26.501.

In the second performance on Nov. 15, she turned in three first-place finishes. She led the way in cutting with 69 points, reined horse cow (144), and team roping with Fallon’s Caleb Hendrix with a time of 9.21.

She added a runner-up finish in pole bending with a time of 20.923 and she was fifth in goat tying at 9.13. Goemmer placed 14th in barrel racing at 17.249, and she finished 17th in breakaway roping in a time of 16.520.

Riata Goemmer and Filippini did not compete in Las Vegas.

At the junior high level, Emma Lemaire is 10th in the all-around standings with 107 points. With the first half of the season complete, she is fourth in ribbon roping, seventh in barrel racing, eighth in pole bending and 11th in goat tying.

The season resumes Feb. 27-28 in Boulder City. The spring portion of the schedule includes seven rodeos in Boulder City, Fernley, Douglas/Carson, Washoe, Lincoln, Winnemucca and Wells.

The junior high and high school finals will take place May 25-30 in Fallon at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.

The National Junior High Finals Rodeo will be June 19-25 in Lebanon, Tenn. The National High School Finals Rodeo is July 17-23 in Gillette, Wyo.
