WJHS actors to present two plays

Performances Nov. 24, 6 p.m.

Winnemucca Junior High School theater teacher Todd Hagness has been working with students enthusiastically on two after-school plays. The two plays are called “Prince Roger and the Dastardly Marriage Plot” and “Standing By.” Todd Hagness chose two plays to give everyone a chance to try out and possibly receive a role. We decided to interview some of the main actors from both plays.

We first asked, why do you enjoy participating in the play? Ariana Galindo, who plays Leah, the bystander in the anti-bullying play, “Standing By,” responded with, “It’s kind of like how I express myself; it’s really fun being someone else.” Second, we asked, is it easy to memorize lines?

Mia Ross, who plays Lady Agatha in the play “Prince Roger and the Dastardly Marriage Plot,” replied with, “Kind of. It’s not as easy as I thought it would be, but it’s not too hard.” Brooke Hodge, who plays Stephanie, the main bully in “Standing By,” said, “No, you have to definitely take a lot of time practicing.”

We finally asked, do you like this particular play? All six interviewees responded with “yes.” Both plays will be performed on Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. for the public at WJHS. However, “Standing By,” a play about a girl being bullied, will be performed in front of the whole student body.

We have learned a lot from interviewing the actors. The students participating in the play have put in countless hours memorizing lines and practicing after school. They are very excited to perform their plays on Nov. 24 at 6 p.m. at WJHS.
