Corporal Leland Allan Schmid Sr., USMC, 63, took his last breath due to a long term illness at Renown Medical Center in Reno, NV on November 11, 2015.
Corporal Schmid was born on June 7, 1952 in Monroe, Wisconsin to his parents, Leland Robert & Dorothy Blum Schmid.
After Leland’s educational years, upon graduating grade school and high school, he furthered his education to 3 years of college. Leland made home in Lovelock, NV to begin with, and hung his hat in Winnemucca, NV until his passing.
Leland was a man of Honor, of Courage and of Service to his country being actively part of United States Marine Corps. He was a Vietnam Veteran for 2 tours protecting and serving his family and his country.
Leland was well known by many operators and truck drivers for his expertise in Heavy Equipment for being a Master Tow Truck Operator for 35 years while working with Milne Towing and A-1 Towing.
Leland was a man that knew and honored his God and his extended family during his life. He made his spiritual home off of Grass Valley Rd at Winnemucca Christian Fellowship.
He enjoyed life as it was given to him and had many hobbies. Out of them all he thoroughly enjoyed NASCAR, fishing, and stock car racing.
Leland is survived by his wife, Linda Schmid, his children, Leanna Schmid and (Joesph Frechette) of Reno, NV, Leland Robert Schmid of Winnemucca, NV, and Robert Leland Schmid Jr of Reno, NV, his siblings, Robert G & William of Argyle, WI, John of Arkdale, WI, Mark & Roy of Monroe, WI, Karen (Ronald) Ziegler of McFarland, WI, Stanley of Albany, WI, Ralph of Linden, NC and Chris of Somerset, PA, grandchildren, Martha Metina Schmid, Lilly Ana Schmid and Robert Vigil Schmid. Leland is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Schmid of Blanchardville, WI.
A special thanks goes to Acaysha Schmid, Carl Jones, Dallas Hammond for their visits, care and support and the ICU nurses at Renown Medical Center for their superior care for Leland in his and the families time of need.
