Obituary: Norman McCombs

Norman McCombs, born in Valencia, Kansas on February 2, 1931, passed away peacefully at Battle Mountain Long Term Care Center on November 5, 2015 from complications of Alzheimer Disease.

Norman was the fifth of eight children born to Robert and Mamie McCombs and also joined two half-brothers. Two years later they moved back to Missouri until 1941 when they moved to Walla Walla, WA. In 1952 Norman married Roberta Norman. Together they had 3 children and lived in Kennewick, WA until 1962 when he developed the first of three farms from bare land. He drove a gravel truck for the Central Phoenix for 25 years. After a tragic accident took his Roberta from him, Norman married Edith Nelson in 1973. They moved to Antelope Valley, NV in 1977 where they farmed until moving to Grass Valley, south of Winnemucca, NV in 1984. He farmed and hauled hay to dairies in Escalon, CA for several years until 2008 when he sold the last farm and retired.

He embraced his faith in God when he was a young man and lived by his convictions all of his life. He was a kind, gentle, but hard working man who will be missed by all who knew him.

Norman is survived by his wife Edith, brothers Lester & Vernon, sisters LaVina & Rosella, children Ron, Barb (Gary) Lewis, and Rob, 10 Grandchildren & 8 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Roberta, two half-brothers, two brothers, and a sister.

Services will be November 20, 2015 at 11 am in Winnemucca, NV at Sonoma Funeral Home with a luncheon to follow and will be announced at end of service.
