Janet (Janie) Dee Sampson, age 51, went to be with the Lord on Saturday November 7, 2015. Janie was born on September 25, 1964 in Winnemucca, Nevada to Donna Dufurrena Knight and Walter Holt. Janie was raised in Winnemucca and graduated from Albert Lowery High School. She married the love of her life, Ed Sampson on January 8, 1991. Janie worked many places but her last 19 years were spent at Humboldt County School District as an Instructional Aide, with the last 13 years being at Winnemucca Jr. High School. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church where she taught CCD for many years. She was an active member of the Humboldt County Support Staff Organization and the Winnemucca Basque Club.
Janie had many interests and hobbies. She loved to read, play cards, garden, travel, camp and fish. She was also an avid photographer. Recently we talked her into going along on a hunting trip, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Her family and friends were so important and special to her. Janie was a patient, loving, and caring soul who will always and forever be in our hearts. Her grandson Max was the joy of her life and her everything.
Janie was preceded in heaven by her mother, Donna Dufurrena Knight, and her father, Walter Holt. She is survived by her husband Ed, their 3 children, Martin, Hannah and Colby and her grandson Max, her step-father, Walter Hardenbrook of Sparks, NV, her brothers, Jerry and Kevin Holt, and her sister, Coleen Reid.
The family would like to thank the Humboldt County School District, St. Paul’s Catholic Church and Alter Society, and the many supportive and caring friends and family. She touched so many lives and she will be forever missed.
There will be a celebration of her life on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, with a luncheon to follow at the Winnemucca Junior High School.
