It is with great sadness to say we unexpectedly lost our father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and good friend Brett. Brett died of a sudden heart attack at his home here in Winnemucca. Brett was tremendously loved and he will be missed each and every day especially by his family and close friends. He was truly a special part of our family.
Brett was born in Battle Mountain, Nevada on March 14, 1963 and died on October 27, 2015. He was 52 years young. He attended Eleanor Lemair Elementary school through the second grade and graduated from Kemmerer High School, in Kemmerer Wyoming in 1981. Brett went on to the University of Wyoming, in Laramie, he left college to work, only 18 credits shy of completing his college degree in Engineering.
Brett was his dad, Ivan’s “right hand man” in the family’s business then, Myers Construction. Brett was so talented in many endeavors but was a standout and truly gifted equipment operator whether on a backhoe, motorgrader, scraper or a little skidster. Those of us lucky enough to be around to watch him operate equipment were always amazed and entertained and in awe of his skills! Over the years, Brett worked for Myco Construction, Newmont Mining, QnD Construction and the US Postal Service.
Brett had many hobbies and interests in his life. He was fond of and loved kids and was a proud father of his son Kyle. There wasn’t a kid in the neighborhood he didn’t know that wouldn’t race up to hug him as soon as they saw him. His greatest hobby was fishing, while other endeavors and likes included racing motorcycles and heavy metal music. He loved and raised animals such as turtles, ducks, frogs, and butterflies and was a great dog sitter to his niece Erin’s pug. He was a doting dad and loved taking care of his son. He was also his dad, Ivan’s “Best Friend!”
Brett is survived by his two children Kyle Myers and Santana McLane (Flagstaff, AZ) and grandchildren Adrianna & Derrick McLane, father Ivan Myers, sisters Lana Myers, Dodie Adelt (Dixon, CA) and Cheryl Miller (Phoenix, AZ), brothers in law Glen Adelt and Vicente Acosta (Santa Ana, CA), nephews Glen Adelt and Patrick & Justin Miller, and niece Erin Acosta, aunt Billie Baldini, cousins Fred, Dan and Todd Baldini, and Sondra McMullen Torgerson and Brett’s girlfriend Robin Summers. Of noteworthy mention, he was preceded in death by his beloved mother Anna Baldini Myers and Grandmother Fannie Myers.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 13, 2015 at 11am at St. John Bosco’s Parish Hall in Battle Mountain followed by graveside services. We would like to invite everyone to join us in a “Celebration of Brett’s Life” following the service, where food and drink will be provided at the Owl Club.
