Obituary: Dennis Ray Ramasco

Dennis Ray Ramasco was taken from us on the 25th of April, 2015 following a brief illness.

Dennis was born on October 21, 1952. He attended Sonoma Heights Elementary, Winnemucca Grammar School, Humboldt County High School and graduated from Lowry High School in 1970. In his school years he participated in football, basketball and baseball but his passion was rodeo, competing in team roping and calf roping. Dennis attended the University of Nevada in Reno and returned to work with his parents at Ramasco Jewelers in downtown Winnemucca. He later owned and operated Lariat Awards.

Dennis took pride in his community and served on the Winnemucca Rural Fire Department, the Parks and Recreation Board and was on the Humboldt County Ag District 3 Board for 21 years.

Dennis married Karin in 1990 and they created a blended family with Luke, Sadie and Shane, adding Gus in 1991. He was a wonderful father and coached and sponsored many youth sports. The family also enjoyed many weekends competing in rodeos across Nevada. He was always willing to help anyone of any age and is remembered fondly by many for his kindness and compassion.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Dan and Marthellen Ramasco. He is survived by his children Luke of Elko, Gus of Jamestown, North Dakota, Shane of Horseshoe Bend, Idaho and Sadie and granddaughter Emma of Twin Falls, Idaho. Dennis is also survived by many cousins and extended family and friends who will miss him greatly.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 11:00 at the Paradise Valley Community Church. A graveside service will follow with lunch served at the Paradise Valley Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Paradise Valley New Building Fund. P.O Box 137 Paradise Valley, NV 89426 in memory of Dennis.
